Why aren't Melania and Barron being deported? a 2-minute read, mister president

After reading about Isidro Perez, a Cuban man, age 75,
taken by ICE after living in America
for 60 years,
then dying in ICE detention–

I’m asking in all seriousness, Mr. Trump
and I know you like knock-knock jokes,
(orange who? orange you glad they didn’t
just break down the door) I’m asking you
why Melania who came here
as an immigrant and
married an American
and bless her heart
had a child with him—
why Melania and Barron are safe,
while an old man from Cuba dies,
and children in Florida, in California,
in Oregon, in South Dakota,
and New York, all the farmworkers’
children, all hide at a knock on the door.

A question to the point Trish and relevant. A chilling reality that a democratically elected leader has made the lives of so many children ‘unsafe’.

Love it, Trish! Direct and pointed. These are the poems we need.

Cheers.

Thank you, Tracy…please consider it unfinished. I hope you’ll be back to comment once I’ve added to it. I find it hard to think about it, delve into the cruelty of these deportations. As an American, I know you understand. For some reason, the death of this elderly Cuban really smacked me across the face; poor man came here at age 15, stayed and worked for 60 years, and was deported. Yes, I think he had a weed arrest somewhere…

Your comments are so valuable. Nowhere else can you find this detailed, thoughtful analysis as on Tangled Branch.

Thank you for reading, Phil. I had a suggestion from David (tatterdemalion), who is an old friend, to add to it, and I agree with him; he’s right. I just find it hard to go deeply into the fast-moving fascism, to really think about it. But I hope when I’ve added to it. Thank you; I VERY much appreciate your commenting.

Hey Trish
Important topic and a terrible reality. please keep speaking up as we, everyone in the world, needs to stop this fascist insanity. Strangely on Tuesday I was performing in a play about fascism and in a in the round discussion with the audience afterwards there were several Americans who basically had fled the country, more especially their own pro-Trump relatives and the threats to their own existance . It is the first time I have experienced what are more or less American refugees ( an exaggeration I know) but ther eis so anxiety going around and a feeling of who’s next, the gays, the autists, ADHD etc.
