A Flat Battery Day

Flat Battery Day

Today my internal battery is flat,
I really can’t be fussed.
I wake at five am,
have early breakfast
and my stay-alive pills,
then go back to bed until nine.

By then the sun is above my fence.

I missed the bin collection,
so another fortnight of ‘green’ waste,
accumulating in the bin,
Amazon packaging, tin cans,
plastic milk bottles, stuff like that.

None of it smells, so what the hell.

I wonder why, then remember,
it happens every New Year
after the first few days.
I’ll coast for a while,
not push the issue,
then bounce back.

At last, the days are visibly longer.

Gyppo.

Know the feeling, it used to be hangovers when young but now it’s more a worn down body. At first I thought you didn’t need to enumerate what is in a green waste bin but reading it again I can see it adds a little beef to give symetry and flow to the stanza’s. Just my opinion, fun read.
